Sr. Benefits Administrator

The Sr. Benefits Administrator will have a customer orientation focus as the role is responsible for ensuring seamless benefits administration for all US employees through close collaboration with external partners. This role will be responsible for day-to-day administration, service delivery of employee benefit plans and programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and leave). The Sr. Benefits Administrator will be in a highly visible role,as a primary point of contact for all US internal employees and  key internal stakeholder. The incumbent will have an intergral role in assisting with the with benefit strategy and process improvements. This position can also be based in Princeton, NJ or Cincinnati, OH. 

Position Responsibilities

•    Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators. Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration. 
•    Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
•    Administration of various benefits programs directly and/or indirectly (via vendor oversight) such as health and welfare, life, disability, 401(k), Cobra, voluntary and wellness benefits
•    Develop and implement communication strategies to ensure effective promotion and understanding of US benefit offerings to new and existing employees, candidates, and their family members.
•    Manage relationships with US benefit broker, carriers and other vendors, ensuring high performance standards are met or exceeded. Periodically market available services.
•    Serve as the internal main point of contact for employee’s inquiries and escalations
•    Maintain and update employee records and benefit files
•    Conduct new hire benefits orientation
•    Collaborate with payroll to ensure contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner
•    Assist and ensure benefits reporting requirements are completed timely
•    Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives
•    Assist in various audits and the filings
•    Biweekly reporting, auditing, billing of various contracts and programs
•    Assist in obtaining statistics and information for the renewal process with a broker of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company
•     Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to conduct benefits surveys and reviews information obtained from the results. Analyzes complex benefits information. Forecasts trends and assists with future benefits designs. Develops specific recommendations for review by management. 
•    Prepare and execute, with legal consultation, benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan document language and updates, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, and other vendors about benefits program changes. Other duties as a required


Position Requirements

  • BA / BS required
  • 5+ years of experience working in Benefits Administration across a multi-site organization
  • Extensive knowledge of working with Health and Welfare plans, Retirement programs, and leave of absence programs
  • Experience working with a third party administered healthcare across multiple sites and employee levels
  • Knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, FLA, FLI, ADA, Section 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements are a plus
  • Comprehensive understanding of benefits compliance; up to date on all rules and regulations pertaining to pension/benefits administration (COBRA, FMLA, FLA, FLI, ADA, ERISA, Section 125, Workers Compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements).
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and ADP 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and focus on follow through to resolve outstanding issues 
  • Thrives in a team environment and matrix environment
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, meet all deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive materials
  • Domestic travel may be required
