WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Under the general supervision of the Form/Fill Production Manager, this position is responsible for all aspects of generating chemical formulations for the production environment during the night shift.  Additionally, this position is directly responsible for overseeing and organizing the equipment, staff, and processes on the production floor. The incumbent will oversee scheduling and routine production activities as well as acting as the first line of support for troubleshooting should problems arise. 

 

The ideal candidate should be a “hands on”, motivated, self-starter who can manage multiple tasks and priorities within a fast paced environment. The Formulation Production Supervisor is the first line of management of the Formulation production. Much of this position’s time will be spent directly with the Formulation team. In addition, there will be office-based duties to complete, all the while maintaining product quality.

 

YOUR ROLE:

 

  • Management of the Formulation production team – including hiring, appraising, training and disciplining when necessary.
  • Assigns production tasks to team members taking account of production needs and individual capabilities.
  • Collects data and compiles reports about Formulation production.
  • Ensures all documentation necessary for regulatory compliance is completed accurately.
  • Troubleshoots issues with equipment or machinery.
  • Conduct reviews of the Formulation production processes to try to identify areas for improvements.
  • Ensure Formulation production processes are being carried out in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures Formulation production team has access to all relevant raw materials and equipment – ensure the smooth running of Formulation production.
  • Will work with specialist teams (such as validation or quality) to ensure that Formulation production team and equipment are fully compliant and up-to-date with training.

 

YOUR FURTHER PROFILE:

  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.  Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.  Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  • Coordinate human resources in Formulation Area over a two shift operation.
  • Participate on cross-functional problem solving teams.
  • Perform manufacturing trend analysis of formulation capabilities.
  • Actively participate in all Environmental, Health, & Safety aspects of the plant.

 

YOUR BACKGROUND:

Education Required/Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Life Sciences or Associate’s Degree with 3-5 years as a Production Supervisor in a chemical formulation environment.

Experience:

  • Industrial experience in a regulated environment (food, beverage, or pharmaceutical).

  • Minimum 2 years of supervision experience in a regulated environment (food, beverage, or pharmaceutical).

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Competencies:

  • “Hands-on” expertise and general safe-handling practices with technologies used in chemical formulations.

  • Ability to provide formal leadership of others, such as directing the work of staff under direct supervision.

  • Safety and security:  actively promote and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

  • Must be able to perform basic algebraic and geometrical mathematical functions

 

YOUR WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work with hazardous materials in a controlled environment.
  • Lifting of 50 pounds or more for short periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment required for working environment.
  • Operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, electric lifts and drums dumping equipment.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasionally works over 40 hours per week as needed and to carry a wireless communication device for response to off-shift production support, as necessary.
