Our Need:
The Electrical Maintenance Technician role covers the performing of all maintenance functions related to electrical systems and power generation distribution in line with safety operations and maintenance principles to guarantee the smooth functioning of the production facility for field operation work. This will include performing maintenance functions on relays, UPS, distribution networks, breakers, switches, and motor contractors.
This position is responsible for carrying out installations and repairs on electrical apparatus, systems and electronic features of industrial equipment and machines adhering strictly to electrical manuals, code, power tools, diagrams and other stipulations by utilizing hand tools, power tools, test and electrical equipment. Additionally, this position is responsible for setting up power supply; conduit and wiring for currently installed equipment and machines, including programmable controllers, all while adhering to design plans, operating manuals, and electrical ethics.
This position will aid the Facility Manager in programming and implementing the maintenance and upgrade of electrical equipment that is brought to the site and help in recognizing any digression from the original records.
Your Role:
- Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
- Possess the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Possess the ability to install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and design documents.
- Possess the ability to diagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and safely repair damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Possess the ability to test malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose and correct malfunction.
- Replace faulty electrical components of machinery, including items such as relays, switches, and motors, and position sensing devices.
- Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
- Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machinery and equipment.
- Render assistance in administration and regulation of the duties of junior technicians.
- Organize safe maintenance principles for regulating and scheduling breakdowns.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records to meet all regulatory and user requirements.
- Provide technical support to process mechanics, utilities mechanics, and production personnel as needed.
- Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctioning instrumentation and controls without direct supervision.
- Assist in the training of plant personnel on new and/or modified equipment or procedures relating to electrical equipment and installations.
Your Background:
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Currently hold an electrician's license (preferred).
Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience as an Electrician or Electrical Maintenance Technician, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Working knowledge of the tools and test equipment used for testing and diagnosing, repairing and maintaining production electrical equipment, instrumentation and controls.
- Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend blueprints, electrical schematics and engineering specifications.
- Must have basic understanding of electrical principals and must be familiar with the National Electrical Code.
- Experience with a variety of electronic test instruments, hand tools, supplies and other shop equipment.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating system
Skills/Competencies:
- Must be able to perform basic algebraic and geometrical mathematical functions
Other Skills:
- Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices
- Self-motivated, with good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.
