Production Maintenance Mechanic - 2nd shift

Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for:

  1. Setting up and tearing down the filing and/or packaging equipment for each batch operation in accordance with all applicable SOPs and quality controls applicable to that operation.
  2. Making adjustments for size, volume, and/or product as necessary.
  3. Completing all documentation relative to the set-up of the equipment,
  4. Performing basic maintenance repairs, troubleshooting and PM’s to the equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assembles, disassembles, and sanitizes the production operating equipment as necessary.
  2. Operation of the Service Autoclaves (SAC’s).
  3. Set up fill/packaging lines prior to production runs. Test run lines.
  4. Tap hold tanks, bring product to fill lines, set volumes, adjust volumes (when required). 
  5. Respond to line operational issues during production runs.
  6. Completes associated documentation legibly and timely.
  7. Completes routine inspections of equipment for safety hazards.
  8. Completes all responsibilities to ensure attainment of the production schedule.
  9. Provides basic troubleshooting guidance to junior personnel.
  10. Completes basic preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
  11. Able to navigate in the plants CMMS program to enter and complete work orders (corrective and preventative).

  1. Works safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.  Notifies management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.  Reports all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  2. Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
Required Skills & Background

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education required / preferred:

Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED

2 year technical degree or associate degree preferred

Experience:

 

 

 

 

*0-3 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing experience

* 0-2 years of manufacturing experience in a technical position. (i.e., Labelers, Cartoners, Fillers, or other pharmaceutical production equipment).  Experience applicable to respective department

 

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

* Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

* Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude

* Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

*Strong troubleshooting skills

Skills / Competencies:

 

 

* Must be able to positively contribute to a team-based environment

* Basic math skills required

* Basic writing skills required

* Basic computer skills (web browser interface)

* Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

  1. Interfaces with all areas of the facility.  Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  2. Coordinates with Engineering and Purchasing to procure necessary parts and supplies.
  3. Works closely with line operators to resolve issues with the equipment.
  4. This position has no direct reports.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  2. Must be able to kneel and stoop for extended periods of time.
  3. Must be able to climb ladders and steps.
  4. Required to work in all areas of the facility with some exposure to heat, dirt, oil, grease, chemicals/chemical fumes, and noise.
  5. Works in areas where special clean room apparel and safety equipment will be required.
  6. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
  7. Must be able to wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for entering various areas of the facility.
  8. Requires flexible hours and short notice overtime.  May be required to carry a wireless communication device for response to off-shift production support, as necessary.
