Production Leader (Supervisor)


  • Drives continuous improvement thru Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools. 
  • Establishes a team environment to facilitate individual personnel development, enhancement of problem solving skills and increased employee involvement.
  • Requires familiarity with the Cincinnati site’s engineering parts identification and inventory control systems as well as broad-based product knowledge.
  • Provides functional support to the Operations Manager to identify and facilitate priority items. 
  • Exercises functional supervision of all production personnel.  
  • Works closely with Materials and Logistics to ensure that the business needs are met.

Duties and Responsiblities

  • Drive activities to achieve results to performance metric goals. 
  • Maintain an environment of continuous improvement through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools. 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard work for all production processes. Represent company management in first step grievance. 
  • Provide daily direction for production and related departmental employees. Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets and assure compliance to approved budgets. 
  • Facilitate the development of teaming structure throughout the department. Plan and organize resources to fulfill production plan requirements, reporting progress as required. 
  • Recommend and implement controls to insure that quality standards are met. 
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem solving activities to insure that departmental goals are met. 
  • Insure adequate staffing levels are maintained thru involvement in hiring, training, and development. 
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Planning, and Distribution to achieve business objectives. Actively drive and maintain a safe work environment.  
  • Lead and/or support 5S efforts and other lean activities for production work cells. 
  • Support daily manufacturing production through the Fast Response tracking system for timely resolution of technical issues associated with workmanship, design, vendor and customer product complaints. 
  • Collaboration with other groups via Focus Factory Setup Structure and Key Role in the progress towards OPEX (Operational Excellence). 
  • Perform other duties required as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor and or Operations Manager. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum Bachelors degree (Technical or Managerial discipline preferred). 
  • Previous supervisory and manufacturing experience preferred. Experience in Lean Manufacturing,Six Sigma and problem solving techniques and principals preferred. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power point). 
  • Experience with AS-400 systems preferred. 
  • Strong internal and external communications and presentation skills.
