Electrical Engineer, Urology

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design and development of electrical circuits, and electrical/electronic components for medical devices. The individual will have responsibility for full electrical design life cycle engineering and post development support for new and existing products.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with R&D/Sustainment teams to design and develop new/existing PCBA’ s for the new and production released medical devices.
  • Responsible to ensure that all product development conforms to the requirements of the Cincinnati Design Control procedures.
  • Prepare / approve hardware development documentation, including product requirements, design specifications, and verification and validation protocols
  • Participate in risk management process, including preparation of risk assessment tools (such as risk analysis and FMEA)
  • Conduct / supervise verification and validation testing, and document testing results.
  • Provide technical support for product changes and new product manufacturing requirements. Develop and implement project plans from concept through feasibility, development, qualification and launch.
  • Work with software engineer to develop PCBA’s by selecting the appropriate microprocessors and components to function with the selected embedded software (i.e. C and C++, Linux…etc.)
  • Manage project plans to meet established schedule and cost targets.
  • Prepare design drawings layouts and documentation for electrical design changes.
  • Evaluate and implement improvements to product designs.
  • Develop, review and approve engineering change orders, ECO’s, considering improvements to quality, cost, customer requirements.
  • Develop, document and lead product and/or process pilot runs and validations.
  • Develop estimates for capital requirements to support products and prepare CER’s as necessary.
  • Participate in regulatory audits, FDA, ISO, UL, ETL etc. and resolve findings.
  • Perform other duties that might be required as directed by the department management.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design software (i.e. Altium)
  • Familiarity with design programs AutoCAD and Solidworks a plus.
  • Understanding of design control processes as defined by ISO13485, and/or FDA 21 CFR 820 “Design Control Guidance For Medical Device Manufacturers” a plus.
  • Familiarity with other relevant medical device ISO standards such as EN60601-1 a plus.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and implement improvements independently and to propose changes to existing methods, procedures, processes and/or products.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple open projects simultaneously. Use of project management skills throughout the project concept, feasibility, development, qualification and launch.
  • Experience and proficient use with Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Experience in project management a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Background with medical equipment a preferred.
